The last few days i have been busy cleaning out a room in my house that i have been using as storage. This room has several tubs that contain various things in them. I have a few that contains the boys' school keepsakes that i would NEVER get rid of, one that has winter clothing items, one that has old billing statements and many that is just junk.
I finally drew up enough ambition to go in and start weeding out what i no longer needed and came up with a plan to free up some space. I decided to donate the clothing and other house hold items that no longer fit or that we no longer use to a local organization to hopefully help someone that could use what i was deeming unuseful to me.
As for the tub of old billing statements that i no longer needed, i decided that i would just sit down and have a "shredding session" to get rid of the paper and to protect myself from anyone getting ahold of them and using them to steal my identity. This process took me forever as i had to look through everything to make sure it was something that i didn't nee to keep.
It wasn't until this morning as i was driving to work that i made an analogy that really got me to thinking. Our lives are much like "the storage room". We have spent a lifetime of accumulating things that we are either really proud of and never want to get rid of or that we want to use "the shredder" to get rid of and destroy so that it can never be used again.
I challenge you to go through your "storage room" and see if there are things that you need to shred and get rid of that you no longer need or want. I know a really good "shredder" that is only a prayer away that will free up some space in your "storage room" if you will just hand it over to him!
